Handmade Leather Satchels and Bookbags

Henry Tomkins' handmade leather satchels are sturdily built, 'no nonsense' bags made from substantial but pliable leather with solid brass fittings that have been given a gun-metal grey finish.

The large leather satchel will accomodate A4 and foolscap files and is a more relaxed alternative to the briefcase. Additional features that can be added to the large satchel are internal divider and pockets, and a front pocket with zip sleeve. The basic prices shown are without added features. The double buckle version has a strip of leather on the top of the bag which acts as a grab handle. It is possible to have a raised handle for an additional £5. Henry makes the small satchel with the same tough leather and robust construction used for the large satchel. The front pocket has pen loops and a pouch for phone/glasses/iPod. The back panel has a zip sleeve for quick access to passes/train tickets. There is an internal zip sleeve for serious security. The long, fully adjustable, comfortable strap is 30mm (1.25") wide. Large Bookbag

The Large Bookbag can be seen as a 'portrait' oriented large satchel with rucksack straps. It is made from the same robust leather and construction as the satchels. The gussetted front pocket has pen loops, a phone/glasses pouch and a flat zip sleeve. The main body of the bag is large enough for A4/Foolscap files and laptops. On the back is a zip sleeve for serious security. Due to popular demand, Henry can now offer the double front buckle version of this design. It costs an additional Ł10 and can be requested in the 'queries/reqests' box that is part of the order form.

Small Bookbag

The Small Bookbag is to the Small Satchel what the Large Bookbag is to the Large Satchel. The gussetted front pocket has pen slots, a phone/glasses pouch and there is a front zip pocket accessible from the main compartment. The main body of the bag is large enough for an A4 formatted magazine but NOT for an A4 file. On the back is a zip sleeve for serious security. Click on bag for close-up images. Two increasingly popular variations of this bag are the shoulder strap version (Ł5 cheaper!) and the double front buckle version (Ł10 more expensive). The laptop rucksack has a cubby hole for your laptop and two pockets for electrical accessories or CD's. The gussetted front pocket has pen slots and a phone/glasses pouch. Secure from prying fingers, there is a zip pocket on the back of the bag. The rucksack is fastened with a three-position (lockable) briefcase lock for added security and convenience. The Briefcase Satchel is a cross between the Briefcase and the Satchel. It is made from the more relaxed satchel leather and conveniently fastens with a briefcase style snap lock. The gussetted front pocket features pen loops and a phone pouch. Inside the main body of the bag is a 'cubby hole' divider for your laptop or files and gussetted slipper pockets for bits and bobs.
